UAE firm finds a resin technology that’s better than FDM for drones.

And the future of 3D printed jet engines and a massive 3D printed house!

👋 Welcome to The Filament Feed!

Today’s top stories: Resin printed drones, 3D printed jet engines, and a massive 3D printed home!

🏭 3D Printing Industry

UAE Firm to 3D Print Drones with Resin (3 minute read) - Link

A United Arab Emirates company, Nomad Prototypes, is using 3D printing to create strong and lightweight drones. They found that resin with dual-cure technology (MSLA) is a better option than traditional filament extrusion (FDM) for larger drones.

This method allows for thinner and stronger structures compared to FDM which can become bulky and weak when scaled up. Nomad Prototypes plans to use their 3D printing techniques to create fixed-wing drones with even greater strength and range.

Honeywell to Produce Jet Engines using Prodways 3D Printing Technology (3 minute read) - Link

SWISSto12, through its US entity St12 RF Solutions, delivered 3D-printed radio frequency antenna feed chains to Northrop Grumman for their GEOStar-3 commercial satellite program. This marks a significant milestone for SWISSto12's Radio Frequency Additive Manufacturing (RFAM) technology.

These 3D-printed antenna feed chains are lighter and smaller than traditionally manufactured parts while meeting strict performance requirements. SWISSto12's RFAM allows for complex designs that were previously impossible, potentially revolutionizing the way satellite payloads are manufactured.

Biggest single family 3D printed home goes up for sale in Texas (4 minute read) - Link

A 3,150-square-foot 3D-printed home in Burton, Texas is now for sale for $760,000. This house, named "Delilah at Independence Trail", boasts several innovations including storm-resistant construction, energy-efficient materials, and a modern architectural style.

The home is said to be resistant to strong winds and extreme temperatures due to its 3D-printed concrete walls with foamcrete insulation. This material is also claimed to be more carbon-friendly than traditional concrete. The house's design includes 10-foot walls and high ceilings, and is functionally comparable to any other house.

The Rod Sloth - 3D Printer Rod Cleaner (NeedItMakeIt on Printables) - Link

This is one of those things you wish you had thought of. This is a way to simply clean the Z-rods on any of your 3D printers. The YouTube video below shows how, once printed out, you can put a cloth between the claws of this contraption and the rods on your 3D printer and move it up and down the rods once. After you’ve done this, your rods should be left nearly spotless!

Inflated Plant Pot Nr.6 (HpInvent on Maker World) - Link

Everyone gets a 3D printer and starts printing vases or platers. At this rate, it takes a pretty well designed or beautiful vase or planter to catch our eye. And this one is beautiful. The creator has been able to capture and inflated look in hard plastic. It looks like you could walk up and start popping the sides of this planter!
