Researchers Develop Sustainable Bio-Based Resin for Additive Manufacturing (25 minute read) - Link
Researchers at the University of Birmingham developed a recyclable resin for 3D printing, addressing a major sustainability challenge. Unlike traditional resins made from non-renewable chemicals, this bio-based resin can be broken down and reused multiple times without losing its functionality.
The key ingredient is lipoic acid, a natural fatty acid. By cleverly combining its building blocks, the researchers created a resin that can be recycled back to its original form. This innovative approach avoids the need for additional chemicals in each recycling cycle.
This versatile resin holds promise for various applications, especially in industries that rely on rapid prototyping. With further development, the material's properties can be adjusted to create everything from sturdy car parts to intricate jewelry.
This breakthrough paves the way for sustainable additive manufacturing, a rapidly growing field. By enabling efficient recycling, the researchers hope to make 3D printing a more environmentally friendly process.

KitchenAid Attachments Holder (Hart 3D Prints on Printables) - Link
An extremely simple yet functional design (can you tell thatās our favorite around here?) for your KitchenAid attachments. The creator has uploaded two version, one shorter version, and one longer version to separate the attachments out a bit more. Be sure to print it with supports and at least 15% infill. One user reported it breaking at 15% but being satisfied when they reprinted at 25%.
Besides 3D printing, our other big hobby is exercise and lifting weights. So this cool little pen holder really grabbed our attention. Comes with the weight rack and a model for a barbell and weights. You can set a barbell on top and the rest of your pens or pencils on the rest of the rack. A cool way to show off you favorite hobby in your office cube!
