Multiple Slicer Updates Over the Weekend!

• PrusaSlicer updated to 2.8.0-beta1 - Link

We saw multiple slicers updated over the weekend, with updates from PrusaSlicer, BambuStudio, and OrcaSlicer. We’re not going to go over every single feature and bug fix but we’ve grabbed what we thought was the most interesting from each and listed them out below. • PrusaSlicer 2.8.0-beta1:

  • Added support for Prusa Connnect, allowing you to utilize secure cloud printing for your Prusa 3D printers.

• BambuStudio 1.9.3 Official:

  • Improvement of speed algorithm for overhang walls which greatly improves printing of overhangs.

• OrcaSlicer 2.1.0 Official:

  • Improvement of fuzzy skin algorithm to make it more uniform but also random (see picture below)

Researchers 3D Print “Sticker” That Can Determine Diabetes Risk Factor From Sweat - Link

Researchers developed a 3D-printed, sticker-like sweat monitor that can detect diabetes, heart disease, and kidney problems. This non-invasive patch measures glucose, lactate, and uric acid levels in sweat, offering a painless alternative to blood tests. The monitor changes color based on the biomarker levels, providing real-time analysis. Early detection is crucial for effective treatment, and this technology has the potential to revolutionize healthcare. Existing options like EKGs and biopsies are often more invasive. With further testing, this sweat monitor could become a valuable tool for disease management.

Aibuild Updates Their AM Software to 2.0 - Link

Aibuild released version 2.0 of their 3D printing software focused on large-scale applications. This update streamlines the entire printing process with features like one-click toolpath generation and automation. An AI assistant helps users by recommending actions and reducing the need for expert knowledge. Compatibility with various hardware and materials creates a unified platform, and secure cloud access allows for remote work.
