BambuLab Sued for Patent Infringement by Stratasys (4 Minute Read) - Link

3D printing industry leader Stratasys has initiated legal action against BambuLab, alleging that the latter has infringed upon several of its core patents. The lawsuit, filed in the Eastern District of Texas, claims that BambuLab's 3D printers, including popular models like the X1C and P1S, incorporate patented Stratasys technologies without authorization.

Specifically, Stratasys contends that Bambu Lab has infringed upon patents related to heated build platforms, force detection systems, and purge towers, essential components in the 3D printing process. The lawsuit seeks damages, a permanent injunction, and attorney fees.

The outcome of the case could have significant implications for both companies, the commercial 3D printing industry, and the hobbyist 3D printing community.

Icon Nears Completion of 100 3D Printed Homes in Texas (4 Minute Read) - Link

Construction company Icon has successfully completed a project to build 100 3D-printed homes in a Texas neighborhood. The homes were built using the company's Vulcan 3D printer, which extrudes concrete to create walls layer by layer.

While the project has showcased the speed and efficiency of 3D printing homes, challenges remain. While the concrete walls offer excellent insulation, they can interfere with Wi-Fi signals. Additionally, the cost of 3D-printed homes has not yet reached a point where they are significantly cheaper than traditionally built homes.

Despite these challenges, Icon is optimistic about the future of 3D-printed housing. The company is actively working to reduce costs and expand the technology's capabilities.
