Sandia Labs Using 3D Printing for Nuclear Weapon Connectors (3 minute read) - Link
Sandia National Labs is developing a method to 3D print electronic connectors for nuclear weapons systems faster and more efficiently. This project, funded by the National Security Administration, aims to reduce production time from years to weeks while maintaining high quality.
3D printing offers several advantages in this process. It allows for quicker creation of molds for other manufacturing techniques and can potentially be used to create some of the connectors themselves. This technology has already been successfully used for the W93 weapons program and may be incorporated into future weapons projects.
Paris Olympics Debuts 3D Printed Skatepark (2 minute read) - Link
The Paris 2024 Olympics debuted the world's first 3D printed skatepark this week. This 400-square-meter park is open to all levels and even includes features for wheelchair users. Designed for accessibility and built with sustainability in mind, the park utilizes eight 3D printed concrete modules that were created with input from skateboarders and a non-profit organization. After the Olympics, the park will be moved to a new location within the Paris region.
